I’ve known Britney and her husband Kurt a long time. By long time I mean our babysitters were friends, we built forts in the woods, and drank Capri Suns before booze together long time. So of course, I was elated when they asked me to design for their wedding day.
One of the things I’ve always admired about Britney is how she stays true to roots. Her wedding was the perfect reflection of that! You could describe the theme as “Country chic” with definite splashes of their personalities and style mixed throughout.
The were so many aspects of Britney’s invitations that I just loved. Here are a few my favorite parts:
The “watercolor” effect. This look was unique and so much fun to create on a computer.
Cream paper. Her choice to go with a textured cream-colored paper and envelopes instead of the standard white was a great one! It matched the theme of the wedding very well.
Vertical envelopes. I loved, loved, loved the vertical, open-ended envelopes. I’m all about making a statement with the envelopes for wedding invitations, and I thought the vertical envelope was the quintessential touch.
Using the same “watercolor” elements from the invitations, we created the wedding programs. A half-fold, square program presented all the information about the wedding ceremony including the wedding party, wedding participants and message from the couple. It also displayed the order of events for the ceremony. A typical program will just list out the the events: Song, Reading, Song, etc. Britney was open to going with a unique presentation on this section. I absolutely love how it turned out! It looks fun while still giving guests all the information they need.
I was lucky enough to be able to attend the wedding in addition to designing for it. It was a blast! I would like to thank Britney and Kurt for letting me play a part in their special day! I wish them all the best as they continue their future together!0
